EXCLUSIVE: Superstar 3900EU UPDATE!

Following on from recent online discussions about the Superstar 3900EU I have received a press release from Superstar UK regarding reported frequency instability on previous versions of the 3900 radio:

"Ranger are unaware of any frequency drift issue with any current Ranger built products, including the 3900 model. To quote Ranger directly "[There is] no drifting frequency problem for our product.". Superstar UK are satisfied that there is no known drifting issue in the current 3900, and the radio is ready for market. Superstar 3900 EU will be in stores from Monday"

So there you have it, Ranger/Superstar UK appear to be confident that their product is in good working order. The statement also appears to suggest that the board in this 'new' version is in fact the same as the current model.

Now I have never owned a 3900 but have always liked the 'Cobra 148' look of the radio and would definitely consider buying one. Like many others I have also been put off by past reports of problems with the radio.

So given the assurances would you be willing to buy this radio?

Do you already own a RANGER built 3900 radio? Are you happy with it?

Please let me know....

The GOOD NEWS is that if you do fancy this radio it should be available from MONDAY 12th September.

Confirmed sellers are:

Nevada
Thunderpole
Knights
Radioworld
The CB Shack
UK 4x4 Centre
Sharman Multicom

Meanwhile you can get the latest on the Superstar 3900EU on Superstar UK's website: www.wearesuperstar.com

Superstar 3900EU - Where To Buy!

So we are still waiting to hear if this radio has a new board or is just a re-badged version of the older radio, however that has not stopped the retailers lining up to sell the Superstar 3900EU.

Confirmed sellers are:

Nevada
Thunderpole
Knights
Radioworld
The CB Shack
UK 4x4 Centre
Sharman Multicom

Nevada, GISCO and The Shack have been named as service centres and are therefore authorised to add the UK40 EPROM board to the radio without affecting the warranty.

I really do hope that this radio is a good one and that the problems reported from previous versions have been sorted out. If this is the case I think it could do really well....

Might even put an order in for one myself!

EXCLUSIVE - Superstar 3900EU Press Release!

Many thanks to Superstar UK who have forwarded a press release to feature on this blog:

"The Superstar 3900 EU has been designed and produced in conjunction with Ranger of Malaysia and is specifically designed for the EU/UK marketplace, locked to mid-block (26.965 a 27.405 Mhz) with 4W AM/FM and 12W SSB. Superstar 3900 EU is available throughout the EU and the UK.

Superstar 3900 EU does not have any gimmicks, just a rock solid PLL radio designed for the CB / HAM enthusiast. We continue with the classic design and chrome front meaning that the Superstar 3900 EU will be a familiar radio to most users.

Superstar 3900 EU is fitted with a Uniden® power socket, SO-239 antenna socket and Ranger® frequency counter socket as standard; and is supplied with rig bracket, thumb screws, power lead & microphone.
UK 27/81 channels can be added by way of an EPROM being fitted to the unit. If fitted by an approved service centre, will not invalidate your 12 month warranty. Approved service centres will be listed on the www.wearesuperstar.co.uk website in the coming days.

The Superstar 3900 EU can be expanded to cover multiple other frequency bands for amateur use or for export, and with a minor modification can do up to 12W AM/FM and 35W SSB.
Stock of the Superstar 3900 EU is due to arrive in the UK week commencing 5th September 2016. The Superstar 3900 EU will be available in the UK from many local CB & HAM radio retailers. A complete list of retailers will be listed on the www.wearesuperstar.co.uk website in the coming days.
Keep your eye on the Superstar UK Facebook Page and www.wearesuperstar.co.uk website for information and updates.

NEW Superstar 3900????

A new website has appeared online for Superstar CB radios: www.wearesuperstar.co.uk

It would appear that they are re-launching the Superstar 3900 as a new EU Legal radio.

The Superstar 3900EU will come with the standard legal 40 mid band 4W AM/FM + 12W USB/LSB but of course can be modified for export purposes!!!!

This may explain the reappearance of the radio on the Nevada website as reported on this blog yesterday.

Nevada list the price of the radio as £169.95

Previous versions of this radio have been plagued with problems affecting frequency stability so it will be interesting to see if these problems have been sorted out in the new version.

We shall wait and see.....
