Superstar 3900 (2023) - M0OGY Review Part 1
Video:YouTube/M0OGY
Dave's back with the first video of the all new Superstar 3900 which has a similar board to the CRT 7900V so no surprise that the receive is excellent.
A few niggles have been reported with this new radio, the main ones being that you cannot turn off the rather annoying key-beep and there's no +10kc switch to access the alpha channels, but hopefully these issues can be rectified via software.

Superstar 3900 Comes Again
So it would appear that the Superstar 3900 is to make another appearance, this time with a brand new board and sure to be spot on frequency unlike it's predecessors (Hopefully!).
This had been speculated following the news about the Anytone Ares II which also takes a 'classic' look and brings it bang up to date with new technology. Many had commented on how it looked like the old 3900 and with rumours that the Ares II will not be made available in Europe, maybe this new 3900 is going to be the answer....?
And here we have a photo of the new radio along with the specifications:
- Channels: 40
- Modes: AM / LSB / USB / FM
- Frequency: 26,965 to 27,405 Mhz
- Power in Tx: 4W (AM / FM) 12W (SSB)
- Impedance: 50 Ohms
- Power: 13.8 V C.C.

Information from the PIHERNZ website:
"The Super Star 3900 has not been available in our warehouses for almost two years now, although we have never lost the desire to bring it back. During this time of absence, we have been surprised by the large number of inquiries received and requests for components and accessories for this equipment.
Stay tuned to our blog for the latest updates and news about the Super Star 3900"

French CB Radio Anniversary Event
It's a special day in France with the 40th anniversary of the 'standard' 40 channels 26.960 - 27.410
Google Translation:
"January 1, 1983 is the historic date of the transition to 40 channels with AM, USB & LSB, in addition to FM for France.
On January 1st 2023 we will celebrate, for one week, on the 40 approved Cibi channels, the 40th anniversary of the switch to the NFC 92412 standard allowing all phonic modes on the frequency range from 26,960 to 27,410 Mhz. Be the most possible.
January 1, 1983: The modification of the approval of the Cibi stations of 22 FM channels for vice-procedure to 40 FM/AM/USB/LSB channels, with a maximum emission power of 4 watts crest, under the standard NFC 92412. This was done thanks to the associations of the time, which mobilized themselves to develop the Cibi. Thus, the 11 FM call channel was quickly abandoned in France by the Cibists to make way for the call channels: 4 USBs for the DX, 19 AM for the road (both were already used, but pirated), 27 AM for the landlines and the 38 LSB for the DX as well.
